The Big Stink


Streets and sanitation workers in Seville, Spain were on strike for the past ten days, reclaiming their right to a fair wage. Sources say they have not received a pay rise for the past five years.

On Friday, the unions finally reached an agreement with city officials, bringing the strike to an end. Meanwhile, enraged and dissatisfied citizens look  for cover as the stench continues to expand throughout the capital city.

a pay rise: an increase in salary

to reach an agreement: to agree in the end

to bring (something) to an end: to finalise

enraged: angry

dissatisfied: not satisfied
